A Matter Of Time I remember when you were seventeen, And that warm, Los Angeles day. We laughed out loud at the same silly jokes... While the World Series was played. It felt so easy, being with you. I guess that's why they call it true love. Who would have known how far we'd go. It's amazing how far we've come. It's just a matter of time. We've been married for a decade now. And I still catch myself rushing home. I've been through good times, And I've been through bad, But I never had to face them alone. And now I think of all the things we share, And all the things we've done. I've found hope, joy, and life in your eyes, And in the eyes of our daughter and son. It's just a matter of time. I can see us now when we're both old and gray, Sitting on the front porch, watching young lovers walk by. I'll reach over and kiss your lips, And then I'll start to cry. It's not that I'll miss what we once were. No. That's not what I see. You're holding my heart as you're holding my hand, And holding our grandbaby. It's just a matter of time. |
